This article explains how to review, approve, dismiss, and manage both auto-generated and custom technical recommendations during a risk assessment. It is intended for inspectors, managers, and other users involved in overseeing technical recommendations within the BriqSafe application.
NoteRequired role: Inspector (for reviewing and approving recommendations), Manager (for scheduling and deleting recommendations)
Understanding Auto-Generated Draft Technical Recommendations
During a risk assessment, the system automatically raises draft technical recommendations when an asset's reading crosses a preset threshold. These drafts are proposals and are not yet active work.
- Open an entity such as an asset and select the Technical Recommendations tab.
- Auto-generated drafts appear under the Drafts (auto-generated) section, marked with an Auto-generated badge and a Needs Approval status.
- Open a draft to review its Problem, suggested Solution, Priority, and the Triggered by panel, which shows the parameter values that crossed the threshold.
Remember, a draft does not have any effect until it is reviewed and either approved or dismissed.
Reviewing, Approving, or Dismissing Draft Recommendations
Review draft recommendations to decide if they should become active work or be discarded.
- Open the draft recommendation to launch the Review recommendation dialog.
- Edit the Problem, Solution, and Priority if necessary.
- Select one or more Suggested activities that describe the corrective work.
- Choose Update & review or Approve to confirm the recommendation. Its status changes to Approved, and the approver and time are recorded.
- To discard the draft, select Dismiss, enter a dismissal reason (at least 10 characters), and confirm. The status updates to Dismissed.
Note the following:
- Drafts without any selected Suggested activities cannot be approved; the form will block with an 'At least one suggested activity is required' message.
- Approving a recommendation is idempotent: re-approving an already approved item does not apply further changes or accept edits.
- Both approving and dismissing require edit access and are only available in the web app, not on mobile.
- Deleting recommendations is a separate action requiring Manager rights and results in soft deletion for audit purposes.
Adding Custom Technical Recommendations
Inspectors can add custom technical recommendations to log issues that automatic rules did not detect.
- On the Technical Recommendations surface, select Add advice to open the New Recommendation form.
- Choose the Entity Type and the specific Entity the recommendation applies to.
- Enter the Problem, recommended Solution, and set the Priority.
- Select one or more Suggested activities and attach evidence if needed.
- Save the recommendation.
All fields except attachments are required. Custom recommendations follow the same lifecycle as auto-generated drafts and must be approved before scheduling corrective work.
Managing Recommendations Across a Location

Managers and consultants can view all technical recommendations for a location in one place to monitor outstanding work.
- Open the location and select Recommendations from the location menu to access the Site recommendations page.
- The list defaults to recommendations with Approved status.
- Use Filters to narrow recommendations by Status (Needs Approval or Approved), Severity, or Structure.
- Select a recommendation to open its detail pane.
Note that dismissed and closed recommendations are not shown here; use the asset’s history to view completed or dismissed items.
Scheduling Approved Recommendations

Once a recommendation is approved, it must be scheduled to turn into actual corrective work.
- Approved recommendations become available in the Scheduling & Control Scheme flow.
- Select approved recommendations and add them as One-time activities to the control scheme.
- In the planner, assign a date and an engineer to create the visit containing the follow-up job.
Keep in mind:
- Approval alone does not schedule work; scheduling requires a separate action with Manager rights.
- Only approved recommendations can be scheduled; drafts must be approved first.
Performing Follow-Up Jobs and Automatic Closure
Engineers complete follow-up jobs generated from approved recommendations to resolve them.
- Open the follow-up job from the job list (it will be clearly badged).
- Review the finding description, recommendation details, priority, deadline, and associated asset.
- Perform the corrective work on-site.
- Add notes describing the work done and optionally attach a photo.
- Tap Complete Job to finish the task.
When all suggested activities linked to a recommendation have completed jobs, the system automatically closes the recommendation without a manual close step. Partial completion does not close the recommendation.
Deleting a Technical Recommendation
Managers may delete a recommendation that was raised in error or is no longer relevant.
- Open the recommendation and select Delete.
- Confirm the deletion in the Delete Recommendation dialog.
Note that deletion is a soft delete; the record remains for audit purposes. If deletion fails, the dialog remains open with a retry prompt.
