This article explains how to create a case from an Asset, System, or Area in BriqSafe to report and track non-conformities. It is intended for engineers responsible for identifying and managing issues that require remediation.
NoteRequired role: Engineer
Create a Case from an Asset
Use this method to raise a case directly linked to an asset when you find an issue needing remediation.
- Open the asset's detail view in the Asset Management section.
- Click the Create case action to start the case creation flow.
- Fill in the required fields and save to create the case linked to that asset.
- If a case is already open on the asset, an indicator will be shown on the asset detail.
Note: Currently, only the Create case action is available on the asset; a full case-history view is not provided in this detail.
Create a Case Manually from a Location

This method captures a non-conformity you discover during your work, even if it is not linked directly from an asset's page.
- Go to Locations and select the desired location.
- Open the Cases tab.
- Click New Case.
- In the side panel, enter a Title (required) and select the Severity (either Regular or Critical; defaults to Regular).
- Optionally add a Description.
- Select a related Asset, if applicable.
- Optionally add connected Parameters, Suggested Activities, and Attachments.
- Click Save to create the case with status Open.
Note: The New Case button only appears for users with permission to create cases. New cases start unassigned and open until work begins or they are assigned.
Add Follow-up Activities to a Case
Attach the corrective work needed to resolve a case after deciding on the required actions.
- Open the case details.
- In the Tasks section, click Add task.
- In the dialog, select one or more activity types with their frequency.
- Optionally, check Apply to linked open cases to copy these activities to related cases.
- Optionally, schedule the work as a visit by setting a due date and assignee (only if you have scheduling and assigning rights).
- Confirm to link the activities; adding the first linked follow-up activity moves the case from Open to Active.
Important: These activities are scheduled control-schema tasks, not in-case checklist items. Users without scheduling rights can still link activities but cannot assign or schedule visits. Closed cases do not accept new follow-up activities.
Attach Photos and Documents to a Case
Add supporting visual or documentary evidence to the case during investigation or before closing.
- Open the case.
- In the Attachments section, click Upload.
- Select the photo (JPEG, PNG, WebP) or document (PDF) files you want to attach (each must be 10 MB or smaller).
- Uploaded files appear in the attachments list and can be downloaded or removed.
Note: Only users with case-update rights can upload attachments. Unsupported file types or files larger than 10 MB will be rejected.
Link Related Cases
Group cases with a shared root cause to track and manage them together.
- Open a case.
- Go to the Linked Cases section and click Link Case.
- Select related cases at the same location to link.
- Linked cases will appear on both case details and can be unlinked from the same section.
NoteOnly Owners, Admins, and Managers can link or unlink cases.
When adding follow-up activities, you can choose to apply them to all linked open cases in one step.
