This article explains the minimum and recommended smartphone and tablet requirements for running the BriqSafe mobile app. It is intended for all users planning to use the app on mobile devices to ensure proper functionality and access to essential features.
NoteRequired role: All
Device Permissions and Access
To use location-based features and receive timely alerts on mobile devices, you must grant permission for location and notifications. This enables the home screen to display nearby sites and alerts.
- Open the app and go to the home screen.
- Look for inline banners appearing between sections.
- Tap Enable location access for nearby sites to trigger the location permission prompt and grant access.
- Tap Enable notifications to stay updated to allow notifications.
Note that these banners only appear while the permissions are not yet granted. Once granted, the banners disappear. If you dismiss a notification prompt without granting permission, the banner remains visible for prompting again.
Using the Mobile Home Screen
The BriqSafe mobile app’s home screen, titled My BriqSafe, provides quick access to your work. It displays sections like jobs progress, My Quick Actions, next visits, Jump back in, My Locations, and Latest Reports in a fixed order.
- Open the app or tap the Home tab to access the home screen.
- Scroll vertically through the sections to view relevant content.
- Pull down the screen to refresh all sections.
On tablets, the Jump back in and Latest Reports sections display side by side for easier viewing. Sections only appear when they contain content or an applicable empty state. For example, My Locations is hidden if you have no sites in scope.
Barcode Scanning and Device Features
The app supports quick scanning of QR codes to identify assets or devices directly from the home screen.
- On the home screen, find the My Quick Actions section.
- Tap Scan QR to open the QR scanner and grant camera permission if prompted.
- Point the camera at an asset’s or device’s QR code to open its details.
The Scan QR quick action is shown to every user, enabling fast asset lookup on-site.
Recommended Device Specifications
While specific device models are not listed, the app’s features require a smartphone or tablet capable of:
- Running the BriqSafe mobile app with smooth navigation across screens and sections such as My Quick Actions, job lists, and reports.
- Granting permissions for location access, notifications, and camera use for QR scanning.
- Supporting biometric unlock features like Face ID, Touch ID, or fingerprint for convenient and secure app access.
Tablets provide enhanced layout options, displaying certain home screen sections side by side, improving multitasking and overview.
Biometric Unlock Features
You can enable biometric app-lock for secure and quick re-entry without re-entering credentials each time.
- Open the hamburger menu in the mobile app.
- Tap Biometrics.
- Turn on the biometric toggle labeled according to your device (e.g., Use Face ID, Use Touch ID).
- Complete the biometric check to confirm enrollment.
- Optionally set a Lock Timeout of 1, 2, 5, or 15 minutes.
Note that biometric unlock works only if enrolled in your device’s system settings. If you have not enrolled biometrics on your device, a Not Available notice appears, and you must enroll biometrics via the device settings first.
Summary
To run BriqSafe on mobile devices effectively, use a smartphone or tablet that supports app installation, grants location, notification, and camera permissions, and optionally supports biometric unlock. Granting these permissions ensures full feature access, including location-based services and QR code scanning. Tablet users benefit from enhanced screen layouts to view more information simultaneously.
For optimal experience, ensure you keep the app updated and allow required permissions as prompted by the home screen banners.
