This article explains how to add assets from a template onto your floor plan within BriqSafe. It is intended for engineers responsible for building and location configuration who need to place equipment accurately within a floor's visual map.
NoteRequired role: Engineer
Adding Assets on the Floor Plan
Use this procedure to place a piece of equipment exactly where it belongs on a floor's plan, using the Asset Library to select the asset type and then positioning it visually.
- Open the location containing your building.
- Navigate the Structures tree and open the structure, then select the desired floor to load its floor plan.
- Switch the floor plan to Assets mode.
- Open the Asset Library. Browse the categories, check the Recently Used list, or use the search function to find the asset type you want to place.
- Tap the position on the floor plan where the asset should be inserted, or drag the asset type from the library onto the desired spot.
- Fill in the quick-edit panel with the asset’s Name and required attributes, then confirm the creation.
- The Asset Library remains open to allow placing multiple assets without reopening it.
Important Considerations
- The asset placement controls and Asset Library appear only in the floor plan’s Assets/Edit mode at the floor level, not at location or structure level.
- Only asset types valid for the location are displayed.
- Choosing the correct asset type is important because it defines compliance activities generated by the rule engine.
Inserting Assets Between or Underneath Other Assets
BriqSafe does not support explicit insertion of an asset "above" or "below" another asset in the list or floor plan view. Instead, assets are placed at precise visual positions on the floor plan, which can be anywhere including in between or underneath other assets as needed.
- Use the drag or tap placement method described above to place the asset anywhere on the floor plan.
- If multiple identical assets are needed in the same or nearby positions, consider duplicating an existing asset for efficiency.
Duplicating Assets
To quickly copy identical equipment on the floor plan, use the Duplicate action.
- Select the existing asset on the floor plan to reveal its action menu.
- Choose Duplicate. A copy will be placed beside the original at an offset, named with a (copy) suffix.
- The copy inherits the type, compliance parameters, and system links, but its QR code is cleared.
- You can select multiple assets before duplicating; each is copied beside itself.
Note: The Duplicate action does not allow setting quantity, spacing, angle, or direction; it always creates one copy at a fixed offset.
Filling Asset Details After Placement

After placing an asset, open its detail panel to complete its identity and network position on the system.
- Open the placed asset to view the detail panel.
- In the General section, fill in the required Asset Number and optionally enter a QR Code value and the Network Position.
- Confirm the read-only Location field.
- Review and update other sections if needed, such as Parameters, Linked Systems, and Linked Assets.
- Save the changes to complete the asset record.
