Create a location

This article explains how to create a new location in BriqSafe for an existing client. It guides users through registering a physical facility, which allows planning compliance activities for that location.

Note

Required role: Inspector

Create a New Location

Locations screen displaying a list of properties with details and their corresponding map positions, featuring a key action to add a new location.
Add New Location screen in BriqSafe allows users to manually enter and save a new address for a location, including optional name and image, with key action buttons for using the entered address and adding the location.

Follow these steps to add a new physical facility to your organisation’s portfolio.

  1. Open Locations from the main navigation.
  2. Select Add New Location.
  3. Begin typing the facility address in the address input field. When you see the correct suggestion, select it from the autocomplete list.
  4. If the address does not appear, choose Enter Manually to input the address fields yourself.
  5. Note that the location’s jurisdiction is automatically inherited from your organisation; it is not determined from the address entered.
  6. Optionally, you may link the location to an existing client later (see the next section for details), as assigning clients cannot be done during location creation.
  7. Submit the form to create the location.

After submission, the new location appears in the Locations list showing its jurisdiction badge and address.

Address and Data Enrichment for Netherlands and Spain Addresses

If you enter an address in the Netherlands or Spain, the system may automatically enrich the location with building metadata to reduce manual entry.

  1. For Netherlands addresses, data may be fetched from the Kadaster/BAG registry, which can fill building type, number of floors, surface area, and may even pre-create some structures and default hot/cold water systems.
  2. For Spain addresses, a Catastro provider supplies limited building information.
  3. Review any auto-filled data carefully and correct any inaccuracies before continuing.

If enrichment fails or returns no data, the location will still be created but with empty building data that you add manually later. For jurisdictions other than the Netherlands or Spain, no enrichment provider is available and building data must be entered by hand.

Linking a Location to a Client

Clients screen for managing client accounts with options to search, view, delete clients, add a new client, and export client data as CSV.

Linking locations to clients is done from the client’s side panel, not during location creation.

  1. Open Clients from the main navigation.
  2. Select the client you want to assign one or more locations to; this opens the client’s create or edit side panel.
  3. Locate the Assigned Sites card.
  4. Click Add Site and select one or more locations to link them to the client.
  5. To remove a location, select the location from the list and choose to remove it.
  6. After adjusting assignments, select Create Client or Update Client to save changes.

Be aware that linking a location to a client links all structures within that location. If a location is already linked to another client, reassigning it happens silently without a warning. Each assignment triggers a billing sync. Linking requires Owner or Admin role permissions.
