This article explains how to view open tasks (cases) in BriqSafe. It is intended for users who have permission to access case information and want to see, filter, and open open compliance cases associated with their locations.
NoteRequired role: Viewer
View the Cases List for a Location

Use the Cases list to see all compliance non-conformities recorded for a particular location and check their current status.
- Go to the Locations tab.
- Select the location you want to view.
- Click on the Cases tab within that location.
- Confirm the header reads "Cases" showing a count and the subtitle "Review and manage compliance cases for this location."
- Review the cases table, which includes these columns: Title, Status, Severity, Created, and Updated.
- Use the filters for Status and Severity to narrow the list to open cases or specific severities.
- Click any case row to open the case detail view.
Note: Cases only exist under individual locations; there is no global, cross-location cases list. Users without permission to view cases will see a message indicating they lack access instead of the cases table.
Understanding Case Statuses
The case list uses specific statuses to indicate a case's progress.
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Open | Case is raised but no follow-up or work has started yet. |
| Active | Work has started, or follow-up activities are linked. |
| To Review | All follow-up work is complete, awaiting review by a manager. |
| Closed | Case is resolved and closed. |
The current status of a case is shown by a status chip in the case detail header.
Important: Managers can close cases directly from the Open status if no follow-up is needed. They can also reopen closed cases back to Open. Only two severities exist for cases: Critical and Regular, displayed separately from status.
Open a Case and Start Work
To begin working on an open case and move its status forward:
- From the Cases list, open the case you want to work on.
- While the case is in the Open state, look for the Agree to start button in the detail footer.
- Click Agree to start to change the case status from Open to Active.
Linking follow-up activities to a case also automatically moves it from Open to Active.
Open Case Detail View
The case detail opens as a drawer with three tabs: Overview, Details, and Comments. The header displays the case’s Severity and Status.
- The Overview tab includes sections for Parameters, Tasks (follow-up activities), Attachments, Linked Cases, and the Closing Note (visible for Closed cases).
- The Comments tab shows user comments on the case.
Note: The Suggested Activities section is visible only to reviewers (Managers and above) and only while the case is open.
Filtering to View Only Open Cases
To focus on open tasks:
- In the Cases list, use the Status filter to select only cases with the Open status.
- Optionally, use the Severity filter to pick cases marked as Critical or Regular.
Additional Tips
- Only users with access to the location and cases feature will see cases listed.
- The Cases feature requires a paid entitlement; if your organisation does not have this, the Cases tab and details will not appear regardless of role permissions.
- Cases can only be viewed per location; there is no overview of all open cases across multiple locations.
