Perform a flush

This article explains how to set up flushing jobs and perform them using the BriqSafe application. It is intended for engineers and managers involved in scheduling and completing flushing tasks on-site.

Scheduling Flushing Jobs

You can schedule flushing jobs either as part of a grouped visit using a visit template or as standalone recurring activities. This process is handled by managers through the scheduling interface.

Schedule a Visit Using a Visit Template

1. Open the Scheduler.
2. Use the To plan filter to find visit-template occurrences, which appear differently from standalone activities.
3. Select a visit-template occurrence and review the included activity types and job counts.
4. Optionally add or remove activity types for this occurrence only.
5. Set the visit date and start/end time.
6. Assign one or more engineers to the visit.
7. Confirm to create a single visit containing all scheduled jobs.

Note: Changes to activity types apply only to this occurrence; the template itself is not altered.

Schedule a Standalone Recurring Flushing Activity

1. Open the Scheduler and filter by To plan to list standalone activities awaiting scheduling.
2. Select the flushing activity to review frequency, assets in scope, and job counts.
3. Choose a date for the visit.
4. Enable Requires review after completion if consultant sign-off is required.
5. Assign an engineer.
6. Confirm to create the standalone visit. The activity will move from To plan to planned, and the next occurrence will auto-queue.

Quick Scheduling from Calendar

1. With the To plan badge enabled, review recommendation cards on suggested dates.
2. Click a recommendation card to open visit creation pre-filled with date, activities, and suggested assignee.
3. Alternatively, drag a visit template or standalone activity from the planning sidebar onto a calendar cell.
4. Confirm to create the visit.

Note: Templates and activities cannot be dragged between clients.

Performing a Flushing Timer Job

Use the flushing timer job to run an outlet for a prescribed duration without allowing early completion.

1. Open the flushing timer job during your visit.
2. Review the Prescribed flush duration displayed.
3. Open the outlet physically.
4. Tap the flush-timer start button to begin the countdown.
5. The timer will run and display a countdown. While running, Complete Job remains disabled to prevent early completion.
6. You may leave the flushing job form to perform other jobs; the timer will continue running in the background.
7. When the timer reaches Flush complete, close the outlet physically.
8. Return to the job form and tap Complete Job to finalize the flushing job.

Important: The timer is authoritative. The server rejects any attempt to complete the job before the timer finishes, so early completion is not possible.

Performing a Temperature (Flushing) Job with a Thermometer

Some flushing jobs require recording water temperature readings using a Bluetooth thermometer or manual entry.

1. Open the temperature job form.
2. Tap Connect Thermometer to pair a Bluetooth thermometer, or tap Fill Temperature Manually to enter readings by hand.
3. If using a thermometer, tap Start Measurement and run the outlet. The live temperature reading will stream and auto-stop when stabilized.
4. Repeat measurements as required by the control scheme.
5. If required, attach an evidence photo to the job.
6. Tap Complete Job when finished.

Note: The form does not display pass or fail results. Threshold breaches are evaluated after visit submission and may trigger cases. Default measurement settings apply if no stop conditions are defined. If the thermometer disconnects, existing readings are kept and manual entry or reconnection is possible.

Working Offline During a Visit

The app supports offline operation to keep performing jobs, including flushing, when connectivity is lost.

1. Open the visit while online to cache required data.
2. Once offline, the visit will show an offline indicator.
3. All entry points and forms, including the flushing timer and thermometer connection, continue to operate locally.
4. Data such as readings, photos, and status changes queue locally.
5. On reconnecting, the app auto-syncs queued data in the background.

Important: Opening the visit while online is essential for caching. Queued photos and data upload automatically after reconnecting, so allow time before leaving site.
