Measure temperatures

This article explains how to measure temperatures during a visit in BriqSafe, using either a Bluetooth thermometer or manual entry. It is intended for engineers performing temperature (flushing) jobs on-site.

Perform a Temperature Measurement Job

Measure water outlet temperatures during a visit by running a temperature (flushing) job, recording readings with a Bluetooth thermometer or by manually entering values.

1. Open the temperature job from the visit's job list.
2. On the job screen, select the Actions tab to access the form fixed by the job's activity type.
3. Tap Connect Thermometer to pair a Bluetooth thermometer, or tap Fill Temperature Manually to enter readings by hand.
4. If using a thermometer, tap Start Measurement and open the water outlet to run the flushing process. The app streams live temperature readings and automatically stops once the reading stabilises.
5. Repeat the measurement for each required reading.
6. If the activity requires, attach an evidence photo by using the photo attachment option in the form.
7. Tap Complete Job to finish the temperature job.

Note: There is no pass/fail result displayed on the job form. All readings, even those breaching thresholds, are recorded and job completion remains available on-site. Threshold breaches are evaluated later on the server, which may trigger case creation.

Connecting Thermometers and Managing Readings

• If the thermometer goes out of Bluetooth range during measurement, readings collected so far remain saved.
• You can reconnect the thermometer later or switch to manual entry if the device connection cannot be restored.
• If a job has no defined stop conditions, the app shows Default measurement settings and applies either a 2-minute timeout or manual readings.

Flushing Timer Jobs

Some temperature jobs include a prescribed flushing duration where water must run for a set time before readings can be taken or the job completed.

1. Open the flushing timer job and view the prescribed flush duration.
2. Open the outlet and tap the flush-timer start button.
3. The countdown timer starts and runs even if you navigate to other jobs in the visit.
4. You cannot tap Complete Job until the timer finishes; the app and server enforce this requirement.
5. When the timer reaches Flush complete, close the outlet and tap Complete Job.

Working Offline

BriqSafe supports offline operation to continue measuring temperatures without network access on-site.

1. Open the visit while online so its data caches locally on the device.
2. If you lose signal during the visit, the app shows an offline indicator but lets you continue working.
3. Bluetooth thermometer pairing and flushing timers operate device-to-device without server connection.
4. Temperature readings, photos, and job status changes are queued locally and upload automatically when the device reconnects.
5. Ensure you open the visit online before going offline; otherwise cached data might be incomplete.

After Completing Temperature Jobs

Once you complete a temperature job with recorded readings:

• The app always allows job completion, even if readings breach thresholds.
• The server evaluates completed jobs for any threshold breaches and may automatically create cases for review.
• If you completed the job offline, case creation confirmations and case records appear after the app syncs with the server.

This off-site case creation process means on-site engineers do not see immediate pass/fail results for temperature readings.

Job Statuses and Visit Completion

A job starts with status Open, changes to Completed after finishing, or becomes Skipped if marked Unable to Complete. Overdue jobs are flagged when past their due date.

When signing off a visit, any jobs still open are automatically skipped with an automatic reason and recorded for back-office review.
