Copy rooms

This article explains how to copy multiple rooms and other building items using the BriqSafe mobile app. It is intended for Inspectors and Engineers who need to duplicate existing rooms, floors, structures, or assets efficiently during location setup or field visits.

Note

Required role: Inspector or Engineer

Copying Rooms and Other Building Items in Bulk

You can duplicate rooms, floors, structures, or assets together using the mobile app’s selection mode. This helps save time by avoiding manual re-entry when multiple similar items already exist in a location.

  1. Open the Structures tree for your location in the mobile app.
  2. Switch on selection mode.
  3. Tick the rooms, floors, structures, or assets you want to copy.
  4. Tap Copy in the selection bar.
  5. The copies are created automatically under the same parent with names assigned automatically.

The app duplicates items in batches. If some copies fail, it reports how many succeeded and how many failed instead of stopping the entire action.

Important: Copied items remain in place alongside the originals; copying does not move or remove anything.

Copying a Single Room, Floor, Structure, or Asset

To copy one item at a time, use the action menu in the mobile structure tree.

  1. In the Structures tree view, find the room, floor, structure, or asset you want to copy.
  2. Open its actions menu and tap Copy.
  3. In the Copy item dialog, enter a New name. This is prefilled with the original name followed by “(copy)”.
  4. Confirm to create the duplicate.

Copied items include all contents they hold; for example, copying a structure duplicates its floors, rooms, and assets in one action.

A Copied message confirms the duplication was successful.

Duplicating Assets on the Floor Plan

To copy one or more assets visually within a room, use the Duplicate option on the floor plan.

  1. Select an asset on the floor plan to reveal its action menu.
  2. Tap Duplicate to create a copy next to the original.
  3. For multiple asset selections, first select several assets, then choose Duplicate to copy each asset beside itself.

The duplicate inherits the original’s type, compliance parameters, and system links, but its QR code is cleared to avoid conflicts.

Note: The duplicate function pastes a single copy at a fixed offset. It does not support specifying direction, angle, quantity, or spacing.

Bulk duplication may partially fail; the app reports how many copies failed during the operation.
