No tasks appear

This article helps users troubleshoot the issue of no tasks appearing in the BriqSafe app during visits. It explains common causes and how to resolve them to access your scheduled jobs properly.

Note

Required role: All

Check Visit Data Freshness and Connectivity

Sometimes tasks do not appear because the cached visit data on your device is outdated or incomplete.

  1. Open the visit while you are online to ensure the app caches the full job list, thresholds, Asset details, and floor plans.
  2. Look at the sync-status card for data freshness indicators: after about 12 hours the cached data is possibly outdated, and after about 24 hours it is flagged as outdated.
  3. If the data is stale, reconnect to the network and tap Get latest data to pull the newest control scheme and job list.

Note: The Get latest data button is disabled when offline or if there are unsynced changes pending upload. You must clear the outbound sync queue before you can refresh.

Work Through Visits Offline Properly

You can perform jobs offline if connectivity is lost during a visit, but this depends on correctly opening the visit first.

  1. Always open the visit while online to cache all necessary job data.
  2. If you open the visit only after going offline, some jobs may be missing because cached data is incomplete.
  3. While offline, the app shows an offline indicator, and job forms remain accessible. Entries, photos, and status changes queue for upload when connectivity returns.
  4. Allow time for queued changes to upload before leaving the site to ensure your work is synced.

Verify the Control Regime and Compliance Activities

If a location, area, or structure does not have a control regime assigned, no jobs will be generated.

  1. A control regime is resolved by inheritance starting from the Area, then its parent areas, and finally the Structure.
  2. If no regime is assigned, the rule engine deletes any existing generated activities, resulting in zero tasks.
  3. Only administrators with the proper permissions can bind or change control regimes.

Confirm Asset and System Linking

Compliance activities depend on correct linking between assets and systems. Missing or incorrect links can cause no tasks to appear.

  1. Open the asset's Linked Systems section.
  2. Ensure the asset is linked to one or more systems at the same location.
  3. If not linked, use Link system to associate the asset with the correct system.
  4. Removing or adding links causes the control scheme activities to regenerate, updating the job list.
  5. Links between assets and systems must belong to the same location; cross-location linking is blocked.

Check User Access to Locations

If your account lacks permission to access a location, tasks for that location will not appear.

  1. Review your accessible locations by scrolling to the My Locations section on the mobile home screen or by verifying your access settings with your administrator.
  2. Only tasks for locations you can access are shown.

Clear Sync Conflicts and Failed Uploads

Occasionally, offline changes or uploads may fail and block new data from appearing.

  1. Open the sync-status sheet to check for failed items.
  2. Retry failed uploads by tapping Retry on individual items or Retry failed to attempt all.
  3. If an item cannot be retried due to permanent errors, delete it to remove the blockage.
  4. Allow completed uploads to clear the outbound queue before attempting to refresh your job list.

Additional Notes

  • Visits can only be signed off when scheduled or in progress; you cannot open or see jobs from visits not in these states.
  • If a scheduled visit template has no activities, the visit will contain no jobs. Verify the template setup and included activity types if relevant.
  • If the job list is very large, use the filter and search options available on the job list screen to focus on specific activity types or statuses.

By following these troubleshooting steps, you can identify why no tasks appear on your visit and take appropriate actions to resolve the issue.
