System list overview

This article explains how to set up and manage water systems during on-site data collection within BriqSafe. It is intended for engineers responsible for configuring systems before linking assets for compliance tracking.

Note

Required role: Engineer

Creating Systems at a Location

Structures screen in the Residencial Serrano location allows managing building structures, with key actions including adding a new structure and editing or viewing details of existing ones via a dropdown menu.

Set up water systems such as hot water, cold water, or cooling systems under a building structure so assets can link to the correct system for compliance activities.

  1. Open the location and go to the Structures tab.
  2. Open the structure where you want to add the system.
  3. In the structure panel, open the Systems section.
  4. Choose Create System.
  5. Enter a System Name and select the System Type (only types seeded for the location can be selected).
  6. Optionally enter Description and set the Operational Status.
  7. Save to add the system. It will appear in the systems list with its type.

Note that systems always belong to a structure, not directly to a location, and only assets at the same location can link to these systems.

Linking Assets to Systems

Associate an asset with one or more water systems so compliance activities are correctly generated.

  1. Open the asset and go to its Linked Systems section.
  2. Choose Link system and select a system from the same location.
  3. Save the changes. The link is visible on both the asset and system sides, and compliance activities will update accordingly.

An asset can be linked to multiple systems. You can also remove links to recalculate activities. Linking is manual and must be checked carefully as there is no automatic suggestion.

Managing Systems

Systems can be deleted and restored if needed, but deleting a system requires appropriate permissions and removes asset links.

  1. Open the system from the structure's Systems list or detail view.
  2. Choose Delete and confirm to soft-delete the system.
  3. If assets are linked, a cascade warning appears before confirming; asset-to-system links will be removed.
  4. After deletion, an Undo option appears in a toast message. Click it promptly to restore the system and its links.

Only roles with delete permission (Inspector and above) can remove systems. Engineers cannot delete systems.

Key Notes and Common Pitfalls

  • Systems live under a structure, not the location-level admin panel.
  • Only system types configured for the location are available for selection.
  • Linking an asset to a system in another location is blocked by the system.
  • Deleting a system is a soft delete and preserves data in audit trails.
  • Deleting a system removes all asset-to-system links for that system.
  • When creating assets, the correct asset type and system links must be assigned to generate proper compliance activities.
